Full Real Madrid roster for Liverpool Champions League game as injury setback confirmed
Vinicius Jr is set to miss the huge Champions League clash against Liverpool this week but Carlo Ancelotti is set to be without numerous players in addition to the Brazilian winger.
"We changed the position of the strikers, with Kylian Mbappe on the outside and he did well like Vinicius on the inside," Ancelotti said after his side beat Leganes over the weekend. Mbappe might get another go off the left at Anfield.
"The team has controlled the good feelings we had in the match against Osasuna very well and we have confirmed them today," Ancelotti said. "We don’t know about them yet. We will see if Lucas [Vasquez] and [Aurelien] Tchouameni can recover for Wednesday ,and then we will make the decisions at the back."
Since Ancelotti's comments, the Real Madrid roster for the game with Liverpool has been confirmed. Tchouameni has not made the list but Vasquez appears to be fit.
Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin, Gonzalez. Defenders: Vaasquez, Vallejo, Garcia, Rudiger, Mendy, Ascencio. Midfielders: Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Modric, Guler, Ceballos. Forwards: Mbappe, Endrick, Brahim, Gonzalo.
As well as Tchouameni and Vinicius, Rodrygo is also sidelined at the moment. Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Eder Militao, who would all be starters in Real Madrid's first-choice backline, are also out, leaving Ancelotti short of options. It was thought that Tchouameni could slot in at center-back to plug a gap there but the French midfielder appears to still be nursing a recent problem.
Liverpool.com says: Injuries or not, Real Madrid will be a test for Liverpool. Win against the Spanish giant, though, and that will be a massive statement of intent from Arne Slot. To get another big European win at Anfield early in his tenure would be a significant step in the right direction for the new Reds head coach.
