Gary Neville described Liverpool's first half with Manchester City on Sunday as "men against boys".

The Reds were completely dominant during the opening 30 minutes of Sunday's Premier League game, with Cody Gakpo scoring in the 12th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage at Anfield. If Liverpool beats City, it will move nine points clear of Arsenal in the title race - with an 11-point gap opening up between Arne Slot's side and Pep Guardiola's men.

Manchester United legend Neville commentated on the game for Sky Sports and offered his thoughts on Liverpool's dominant opening spell. "Ordinarily you would say could Liverpool regret missing these chances, but I don't think we are going to say that," said Neville just after the 20-minute mark. "It's men against boys. This game should be out of sight."

Neville also said moments before: "It is bizarre watching City like this. They have been special for so many years. So reliable and so consistent. It's so odd watching them looking like a mess."

And Neville said just after the 30-minute mark: "The amount of times Liverpool have been able to put the ball over the top of City, and get it, is unreal... They just look so comfortable Liverpool. They've not had as much of the ball over the last 10/15 minutes, but they look just as comfortable without it."

City is in horrible form, having lost five consecutive games in all competitions before a 3-3 draw in their last outing against Feyenoord - Slot's former team. Yet that only tells half of the story, as one of those five defeats was a 4-0 drubbing at home to Tottenham, and Guardiola's men let a three-goal lead slip through their fingers against Feyenoord.

Despite Liverpool's good start to Sunday's game, former Premier League striker Dion Dublin warned the Reds of City's quality. He told BBC Radio 5 Live during the first half: "City like it when they are forced to break a team down, but today they are being forced to play through this Liverpool side. It is only 1-0 and City are still in this game - they could get back into this very quickly, however it is all Liverpool."
