Gerald Taylor breaks Hearts silence as club chief details transfer structure

Gerald Taylor has revealed he jumped at the chance to join Hearts the moment they came calling.

The Costa Rican defender explained how his move from Saprissa to Tynecastle came about quickly after the clubs discussed a possible move for the full-back. It was a no-brainer for the 23-year-old who told how he has always fancied a crack at playing in Europe and how this move makes that dream a reality.

"It all happened very quickly," he said. The Copa America started and they told me something about Hearts, that there were possibilities for me to join the club and I immediately said yes, that I wanted to go. I have always wanted to play in Europe and I will give everything to make it successful."

The deal will begin as a loan but does have a buy option in the contract which could land his club in his homeland a pretty penny as well as add-ons and possible bonuses.

And sporting manager Sergio Gila provided details of the move.

"The Scottish club are paying us for the loan and there is also a very interesting purchase option for us with a high market value.

"It would be a very powerful sale and we also have an immediate benefit with bonuses. And this also helps to put the name of Deportivo Saprissa and Costa Rica in Europe."
