Gloucester Rugby lock added to England A squad to face Australia
Gloucester Rugby lock Arthur Clark is one of three players added to England A’s squad to face Australia A on Sunday after a barnstorming start to the 2024/25 season in club colours.
Clark joins Saracens second row Hugh Tizard and Bath Rugby winger Will Muir in Mark Mapletoft's England A squad to face Rod Seib’s side at the Twickenham Stoop this weekend following the tourists' 10-10 draw against Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate on Friday night.
Muir was a try scorer in February when England A made its return after eight years in a 91-5 victory over Portugal and has been on the fringes of the England senior team for the past year. Bath’s World Rugby U20 Championship winning tighthead prop Vilikesa Sela has left the national squad after suffering a shoulder injury in the 78-19 Premiership Rugby Cup win over Bristol Bears on Saturday which means 20-year-old Cherry and Whites prop Afolabi Fasogbon looks certain to feature.

Gloucester fly-half Charlie Atkinson, 23, remains in the squad and will compete with Leicester's Jamie Shillcock for the number 10 jersey. The call-up for 22-year-old Clark is further recognition of the 'golden generation' coming through at Kingsholm with his partner in the engine room at Gloucester, 23-year-old Freddie Thomas, earning a first Wales call-up this Autumn.
Mapletoft has also invited former U20 Men’s players Tarek Haffar (Northampton Saints) and Sean Kerr (Harlequins), as well as current U20 Elite Player Squad members Tom Burrow (Sale Sharks), Charlie Griffin (Bath Rugby) and Angus Hall (Saracens), to train with the team.
The squad assemble at the Hazelwood Centre today to begin preparations for the fixture later this week, with training also set to take place at Richmond Athletic Ground.
The game kicks off at 2pm on Sunday.
