Greenock Juniors can cement themselves in title race in Dalry Thistle clash
GREENOCK Juniors will look to further cement themselves in the West of Scotland League Division Three title race and give their supporters an early Ravenscraig Christmas present against Dalry Thistle.
Gary Fleming's side were given a further boost last week as a professional performance saw them overcome Glasgow United in a 3-0 victory in Inverclyde.
The win allowed the Ravenscraig outfit to move within four points of Thorn Athletic at the top of the pile.
The Paisley side shocked everyone when they dropped points after being edged out in an astonishing 13 goal thriller against Glasgow University, allowing Nock to narrow a then seven point gap, with an all important game in hand.
That means Nock boss Fleming will be looking to continue to pile the pressure on top spot when his side welcome their North Ayrshire counterparts to Greenock tomorrow.
Dalry have had an indifferent start to the season, winning six and losing five of their 13 games so far, with two draws to round off their points tally of 20 points.
Nock are only one of six teams to have outscored the Merksworth Park outfit this season and Fleming will be hoping that James Marks can continue the fine scoring streak he's been on since his move from Premier Division title chasers Drumchapel United back in October.
His brace last week, which followed on from Ryan Sinnamon's first half effort, took him to six goals in all competitions.
And the former Largs Thistle man's threat at the top end of the park is only bolstered by the likes of Craig Brown, Tai Beckley and Innes Lambert who are all contributing on a regular basis.
Competition for places is hotting up once more for Nock and Fleming is almost spoiled for choice in terms of player availability.
Only Cammy McPhee remains sidelined with an injury that's set to keep him out of action until the new year - but even that is not too far away.
The Ravenscraig outfit are teaming up with their colleagues at Ravenscraig Sports hub and will host their annual Christmas appeal to coincide with the clash.
The donation drive will be in support of Branchton Community Centre.
Items that are being requested are pyjamas, chocolates/sweets, scarves, blankets, gloves, socks and toiletries.
Greenock Juniors are sponsored by Saveheat, Keystore Cowal View, Safer Group, The Lighthouse Bar, McGills, ARC and Blairs.
