John McGlynn has revealed that he had to send his team sheet to Vladimir Romanov during his time as Hearts manager and shared a story about a time where the madcap owner's thoughts on his team selection rang true.

McGlynn - who currently manages Championship high-flyers Falkirk in the second tier - had an eight month spell in charge of the Jambos in the 2012/13 campaign, leading the cash-strapped club to the final of the League Cup where they lost out to St Mirren. The 62-year-old parted company with the Gorgie side in February 2013, but was present for the back end of the Romanov era at Tynecastle, with Hearts entering administration in May 2013 after the former banker's running of the club had went sour.

But speaking in an interview with BBC Scotland ahead of the Friday night Championship action between Raith Rovers and Ayr United, McGlynn has opened up on Romanov's involvement with matters on the pitch and that he made his feelings on one member of the Hearts squad very clear. McGlynn said: "Yeah, you had to send him the team on a Friday.

"Yet unfortunately he didn't really care too much for John Sutton and said to me: 'Never to play John Sutton again'. He also said: 'he'll miss your next penalty'. And you'll not believe this but we played on the Sunday and got a penalty. John Sutton took it. And he missed it. That's the God's honest truth. I'm not making that up."
