Hamilton Accies, Airdrie and Livingston are amongst seven clubs who have lodged a complaint about a Premiership ban on artificial pitches.

Top flight clubs in May voted to outlaw the synthetic surfaces in time for the 2026/27 season.

Kilmarnock are the only Premiership club to have a synthetic surface, and are preparing to revert to grass ahead of the ban.

But Airdrie, Hamilton, Livingston, Falkirk, Cove Rangers, Queen of the South and Raith Rovers have voiced their concerns to SFA president Mike Mulraney over the cost of replacing their pitches.

A report in the Daily Mail says all seven are prepared to go to an independent arbitration hearing under Article 99 of the SFAS rule book, if their appeal is dismissed.

Mulraney is reportedly working on a plan that will help clubs to meet the financial requirements, should they gain promotion to the top flight. Falkirk, currently six points clear in the Championship, could require that, and with Livingston in second place.
