Newcastle United's co-owner, Amanda Staveley, is preparing to make her exit from St James' Park following a three-year stint in the boardroom.

Details reveal that she was notified about this strategic shift by Public Investment Fund. The Saudi-backed fund will acquire her 6% shareholdings.

In comparison, the Reuben family will retain their 14% stake at United and Darren Eales remains CEO. When Chronicle Live reached out to United seeking their thoughts on the changes taking place, a spokesperson responded with: "The club is not commenting."

Staveley's exit comes amidst escalating tensions on Barrack Road following Newcastle's failure to secure a European qualification last season, prompting a hasty sell-off to evade punitive measures for possibly violating Premier League profits and sustainability regulations.

While it's uncertain whether Staveley will break her silence over the issue, potentially due to a non-disclosure agreement, there's some understanding that Jamie Reuben, one of the directors, would have preferred if Staveley and her spouse Mehrdad Ghodussi remained on the board, according to Chronicle Live.

United recently repositioned their football department with new Sporting Director Paul Mitchell stepping into Ashworth's shoes. It appears that there's closure between Newcastle and Man United after a settlement regarding Ashworth's services effectively ending a bitter six-month dispute.

Amanda Staveley has addressed concerns from Newcastle United fans after changes in Companies House documents sparked rumors of her stepping down. She clarified: "Just arrived back from Saudi and noticed a lot of messages from fans concerned that I had stepped down from my role as a Director of Newcastle United. I have not - the changes made last week were purely administrative, to non trading subsidiaries."

She further explained the situation, stating: "After the takeover, Jamie and I stepped in as directors of all companies until we could build an executive team. We remain on the 'top-co' and the Board."

Staveley also expressed her gratitude towards the supporters: "I'd like to thank everyone for their incredible support over the last few years, and particularly for people taking the time to share their thoughts. We have the best fans in the world- and I am privileged and proud to be a part of your community."

As of now, neither PIF nor the Reuben family have commented on the matter.

Liverpool.com says: Newcastle United has emerged as one of Liverpool's most intriguing challengers in recent years after their much-debated takeover. Staveley was very much a figurehead for that deal after brokering the initial takeover, so her departure is just the latest intriguing development at St James' Park.

Of course, Liverpool is still being linked with Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes with Newcastle's financial situation against the backdrop of Premier League PSR rules making for a fascinating situation. There's no doubt Liverpool will be watching on with interest at moves behind the scenes and what they might ultimately mean for the club.
