Harry Crank to be celebrated in new format Woolston Rovers awards night

WOOLSTON Rovers will be hosting their inaugural Harry Crank Bleed Green & Gold Awards Dinner on Saturday, November 2.

The event, which will take place in the 40/Twenty Lounge at The Halliwell Jones Stadium at 6pm, will be a showcase of talent from each team throughout the club.

It will culminate in a Bleed Green & Gold Trophy being awarded to the player of the year from each side within the club, while the first recipient of the Harry Crank Foundation Volunteer of the Year Award will also be announced.

The foundation was set up in the memory of Rovers stalwart Harry Crank, who did so much for the club since being one of the founder members right up until his death in June, 2022.

Woolston Rovers junior section chair Mark Robinson said: “This will be a very special occasion for the club.

“It is the first time that we have held an awards evening for all of our teams.

“There are some exceptional players, coaches and volunteers within our teams and it will be brilliant for us to celebrate the achievements of all the club on the one night.

“It is also a chance for us to celebrate the life of Harry Crank and to thank him for all he did for the club.”

Club president Warren Whalley, who is also open-age chair, said: “We have twenty teams at the club from cubs all the way up to under 16s and then two open-age sides, while we will have an under 18s next season for the first time in four years.

“Getting together as a club can only solidify us and ensure we continue to grow each year.

“It will also be nice to have the family of Harry with us because they were a big part of the club as they grew up and came along with their dad, grandad and great grandad.”

Tickets are £35 each, or £320 for a table of 10, which includes a two-course meal.
