Christian Eriksen is yet to hear anything about his Manchester United future despite enjoying a return to form so far this season.

The Dane is out of contract next summer and was available for transfer for most of the recent transfer window, but his decision to see out his final year has paid dividends, and he has played far more often than many people expected.

Eriksen has played in 13 of United's 18 fixtures so far this season, starting nine of them, and has returned four goals and three assists to emerge as a key man in the campaign.

He arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer two years ago and has gradually found games harder to come by. United signed Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte in the previous two windows, while the emergence of academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo has also dropped Eriksen down the pecking order.

Ajax and Anderlecht were interested in the summer, and as Erik ten Hag looked to reshape his midfield, United were open to offers. However, Eriksen ended up staying and has reminded everyone of his quality this term. Despite his form, he admits he has not heard anything from the club about a potential extension to his contract.

"I haven't focused on it yet, and I haven't heard anything from the club," Eriksen said ahead of Denmark's Nations League match against Spain. "Right now it's just about football, and then we have to see where we stand in January and for that matter in the summer."

Eriksen is yet to meet new head coach Ruben Amorim, having headed straight off on international duty after the win against Leicester City at the weekend. Amorim is set to bring a new system to Old Trafford and Eriksen will be hoping he can force his way into the 39-year-old's plans.

"As a footballer, you just turn up and train, and then it is the coach who decides the team at the weekend. I have not set my hopes or expectations. It belongs to football," he said.

Eriksen's chances of game time might be reduced with Mount and Mainoo returning to fitness, while Casemiro and Ugarte have formed a potent partnership at the base of midfield in the past four games. But he has enjoyed his increased level of first-team exposure so far this season.

"It has been lovely," he said. "As a footballer, you want to play as much as possible and be decisive. It's great to feel that I've really been able to take part."
