Liam Fox will take charge of Hearts on a temporary basis after Steven Naismith's sacking, the club has confirmed.

Naismith's exit from Tynecastle was announced earlier today after yet another defeat, this time to St Mirren, meant the Jambos stayed at the bottom of the Premiership and remain winless in five games, eight in all competitions. At that time, there was no mention of who would be in charge for Ross County at home on Saturday.

It has now been confirmed that man will be B team boss Fox. The former Dundee United manager will be assisted by B team coach Angus Beith and Lee Wallace from the under-18s. CEO Andrew McKinlay gave an update on the plans to search for a new permanent manager.

He said: “The Board met today to agree a way forward, and the process of identifying and hiring a new management team has already begun.

"In the interim, we welcome Liam, Angus and Lee to the first team and will give them all the backing they need, as I’m sure the supporters will, in order to turn around the present situation.

“Updates will be provided to supporters in due course but, in the meantime, I would ask our fans to continue their unrivalled backing of the team when we host Ross County at Tynecastle Park on Saturday as, together, we strive to take positive steps forward."
