Hibs to avoid splashing compensation on manager search as one boss moves up pecking order
Hibs will reportedly look to bring in a new head coach that won't cost compensation to ensure their new man can get going as soon as possible.
The Easter Road outfit are on the hunt for a new boss after Nick Montgomery and his assistants were sacked last week. David Gray has been acting as interim manager since and recently put his name forward as an option for a full-time spot.
The icon of the 2016 Scottish Cup Final insisted recently that he feels he "100 percent" has the confidence in his own ability and recent reports in the Edinburgh News suggest that Hibs are now genuinely considering his application.
According to the same publication, the club do not want to get bogged down in a "compensation battle" with other sides for more experienced gaffers already in jobs.
That would ultimately rule out the likes of Derek McInnes and Stephen Robinson who have both been named as contenders for the job.
