A Hotline roast of Mr Gibberish – Rangers diehards cannot stomach 'him' because he's a Celtic fan's dream
We exclusively revealed Rangers are remaining "calm" over the future of embattled boss Philippe Clement.
But there's nothing serene on show here, as Scottish football's agenda-setting call-in stands on the brink of combustion with the beleaguered Belgian getting both barrels from a fanbase who no longer want him. Aberdeen and Celtic are already nine points ahead and Rangers fans don't see anyone back under Clement. The tide has turned and fans have plenty they want to get off their chest.
Jim MacLean, Isle of Bute, got us started. He said: "Does Mr Clement ever listen to his after game comments? They are embarrassing to the Rangers fans who listen to them, talking about toenails, is this guy real? They could and should have been four down at half time, did he mention that? He should apply for a job at the pantomime, his fairytales would go down well with the kids, stop talking nonsense Philippe and trying to kid on the supporters."
Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, Florida, said: "It was sad to listen to what Clement's was saying after the result at Pittodrie, he seems to be a man who doesn't understand what's happening around him, what everybody sees but him, he seems to be confused into believing Rangers played well at Aberdeen and in his mind still thinks rangers will win the league. How long can he carry on in this state of confusion? Watching him on TV, he looks tired, certainly it can happen when your under huge pressure, especially with everyone calling for his head. The board need to sit down with him to help end this non stop pressure with a golden four-year handshake, also the players have done nothing to help him but you can't sack all of them."
Graham Taylor, Airdrie, said: "Enough is enough by this shambles that is Rangers Football Club. I like many of my fellow bears who have already surrendered this season. There is no leadership at the club and no hope of a quick fix. Our manager has become a joke figure with some ridiculous takes on what we are witnessing on the pitch.I really don't know where we go from here."
Is it time for Barry? Record Sport columnist and Ibrox icon Ferguson is the man one punter wants to save. Ian Urquhart, Southampton, said: "Truthfully this Rangers team has no passion for the jerse.y I don't blame the manager, he is putting out a team that he thinks can win the game. Bring in Barry Ferguson as his assistant to install in these players what it means to play for this club."
Hugh McKirdy emailed: "I don't like to single out any player as they're all doing a grand job at Aberdeen. But Nicky Devlin and Graeme Shinnie's work-rate and enthusiasm is staggering. An example to any young player that hard work is paramount to succeed."
One regular has told Celtic fans to shut it as he's not having them. Alan Flett, emailed: "I would like to remind Celtic fans who are gloating over the misfortunes of Rangers, that they're no great shakes themselves. Their recruitment has been shocking for years and they've dominated the Scottish game because of Rangers' incompetence more than anything else."
The mysterious Mr Flett was a hot topic on the call-in. Glen Mitchell, emailed: "Mr Flett is either a Celtic fan on the wind up, or is more delusional than the current manager at Ibrox. If he is a Celtic fan. Mr Flett should also know that Celtic know all about Barcelona's best team as they actually beat them in 2013. Dundee Utd have also beaten Barca, so fair play to them as well. From my recollection, a team based at Ibrox never has. Also he runs Atalanta down, even though they are the Europa League Holders, something his team never were."
