Huge American ownership claim made as Knighthead target full Birmingham City takeover
Every Premier League and EFL club could be owned by Americans by the end of the next decade according to one football investment expert.
Birmingham City are among the plethora of English teams now under American ownership after Knighthead Capital Management acquired a controlling 45.64 percent stake in the club last year. It was recently revealed that Knighthead hope to complete a full takeover of Blues in 2025.
Tom Wagner and his partners have transformed Blues' stadium St Andrew's and pledged to build a Sports Quarter in the heart of Birmingham. The Knighthead chief has also brought seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady on board.

More than half of the 20 Premier League clubs are American-owned and dozens of EFL clubs are too. Speaking broadly about American investment in English football to the BBC, football investment expert Adam Sommerfeld made the bold prediction that all of the clubs in the Premier League and EFL could be owned by American investors in the next five to 10 years.
"Fourteen of the 20 Premier League teams are LLP (limited liability partnership) minority-owned (by Americans) and at least a third of the EFL are," Sommerfeld, a sports investment specialist for advisory firm Certus Capital Partners, said. "I can't see how all of them won't have American investment in the next five to 10 years.
"I know what we have in terms of our trend line and our competitors and I'm not aware of a team that hasn't had a conversation with an American investor in the past few months. Every team is talking to them."
