Huge reward on offer for Crosfields should they win Challenge Cup home tie
CROSFIELDS' Challenge Cup first-round - and potential second-round - opponents have now been confirmed.
The Hood Lane outfit, who are participating in the tournament for the fourth time in eight years, have been handed a home tie against Cumberland League champions Maryport.
And should they be victorious, they will earn a huge tie against Championship opposition with the winners of the tie to visit Barrow Raiders in the second round.
First-round ties will be played over the weekend of January 11-12, with the second round to be played over the weekend of January 25-26.
Warrington Wolves and the other 11 Super League clubs will then enter in the third round, ties for which will take place over the weekend of February 8-9.
Crosfields last participated in the Challenge Cup back in 2023, when they were beaten in the first round by Wakefield-based outfit Westgate Common.
They were also beaten by Wigan St Judes at the first stage in 2019, and that came a year after their tie against Rochdale Mayfield was streamed live on the BBC Sport website and featured current Wire star Matty Ashton scoring a try for Mayfield.
