Hull City's winless run was extended to seven games with a 2-1 home defeat to West Brom which only increased the pressure on Tim Walter going into the final international break of the calendar year.

City's first opening 20 minutes was nothing short of a disaster, falling 2-0 down to the Baggies courtesy of Karlan Grant and Josh Maja's goals, and in truth, it should have been more with Maja passing up a chance to make it 3-0.

Joao Pedro headed City back into it just before the break after a fine Charlie Hughes cross to give the Tigers and their supporters hope in the second, but aside from a Regan Slater header, rarely looked like pulling level.

Here's how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players at the MKM Stadium on Sunday afternoon...

Ivor Pandur: Had little hope with either of the goals in fairness. A couple of nervy moments trying to play out from the back. Smart save second half to tip over an overhead kick. 6/10

Cody Drameh: Looked bright enough when attacking down the left and tried to create something. Defensively did his job. 7/10

Charlie Hughes: Got stuck in Jones' path for the second goal, looked a threat at the other end and created the goal for Pedro with a cute cross. Impressive in the second half. 7/10

Alfie Jones: Unlucky with the first which hit him and flew in the net and then hit Hughes as Maja ghosted in for the second. Stopped the third with a fine tackle. 7/10

Lewie Coyle: Couldn't quite get close enough to Karlan Grant for the opening goal, looked bright going forward and almost scored early in the second half. 7/10

Regan Slater: No shortage of endeavour and looked lively down the left in trying to get his side creating. Should have made it 2-2 but headed over from close range. 6/10

Xavier Simons: Crashed an effort off the underside of the bar just after Albion's first in what was a decent performance from the midfielder. Applauded off when he was replaced by Palmer. 7/10

Gustavo Puerta: A couple of nice touches, but allowed the game to drift, at times. Needless free-kick which eventually led to the opening goal. 6/10

Abdus Omur: Saw plenty of it in the first half and looked bright enough, wanted a penalty for a tug of his shirt Did well to win the ball and put it on a plate for Slater to head over. 6/10

Mason Burstow: Started on the right of the attacking unit. Showed one or two moments of encouragement. Tested Palmer early in the second half with a low effort. Tough gig for a centre-forward playing out on the right. 6/10

Joao Pedro: Ran the line well first half and his movement to score City's goal was terrific, getting in front of his man to head in. Didn't get enough of those balls into the box. Headed over in stoppage time. 7/10

Subs:

Ryan Longman (for Burstow 68): Straight into the action and put in a decent cross which just missed Joao Pedro. A promising cameo in his first outing of the season. 6/10

Kasey Palmer (for Simons 81): Surprised he was dropped, in truth and by the time he came in, it was a struggle to get involved. 6/10

Chris Bedia (for Puerta 89): Tried to cause havoc in the closing stages as City chased a way back into it, but not really enough time. 6/10
