Hull City player ratings vs Watford as Ruben Selles gets glimpse of potential
Ruben Selles had to settle for a point in his first game as Hull City head coach, being held to a 1-1 draw by Watford in what will feel like a cruel end.
City had to wait until the 82nd minute to score their first goal under Selles, with Chris Bedia coming off the bench to turn in from close range and lift the roof off the MKM Stadium.
Just six minutes later, though, Watford pulled level to half the buoyant MKM Stadium atmosphere and see City forced to settle for a point, though at least their six-game losing streak was ended.

Here's how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players on Wednesday night under the MKM Stadium lights....
Ivor Pandur: Got away with a pass out early doors but had little to do in terms of saves through to the interval. Could do little about the equaliser. 6/10
Ryan Giles: Decent first half, but couldn't get forward as much as he would have liked owing to the way Watford pinned City back, at times, bar when he fizzed a shot at goal. Will question his involvement in the equaliser. 6/10
Sean McLoughlin: Solid enough in a tough first period against a fluid Watford attack but will be gutted about the manner of the late equaliser. 6/10
Charlie Hughes: Showed some neat footwork and was willing to try and get on the ball and get City going. A really encouraging display from the youngster. 6/10
Lewie Coyle: Put in a couple of decent crosses, made one crucial block on the far side but found himself caught out a couple of times. 6/10
Regan Slater: Looked bright as you'd expect under the new manager; flashed a header wide and then created one for Pedro after a good run. A real bright spot for Selles. 7/10
Steven Alzate: Handed a first start by Selles and looked neat and tidy, but City found their midfield often overrun in the first period, had a greater involvement in the second half and looked really good. 6.5/10
Ryan Longman: Sliced a glorious chance wide inside a couple of minutes. Was involved in everything City did going forward but couldn't find the finish when it was needed. 6/10
Kasey Palmer: A disappointing first half summed up by slamming a free-kick just outside the box into the defender at the near post., Booked for a shoving match with Imran Louza. Much more involved in the second period. 6.5/10
Abu Kamara: Deployed on the right again, and tried to link up with skipper Coyle. Saw a shot blocked in the second half before being booked for a foul. Lacked quality, but no shortage of effort. 6/10
Joao Pedro: Back in the starting XI and saw a shot blocked after neat play from Slater. Worked hard up front on his own, harshly penalised second half after running the length of the half and forcing a decent save. 6/10
Subs:
Mason Burstow (for Longman 66): Almost scored seconds after coming on, having exchanged passes well with Palmer to create a good opening. 6/10
Marvin Mehlem (for Alzate 66): Showed a couple of neat touches, but not involved as much as he'd have liked. 5/10
Chris Bedia (for Pedro 72): Neat play inside his own box to get City away from danger moments after coming on. Right place right time to turn in the opening City goal in the closing stages. 6.5/10
Abdus Omur (for Kamara 85): Little time really. Moving forward, he'll want to show an awful lot more and get himself back into the side. 5/10
