Hull City manager Tim Walter says his players are determined to showcase their potential this weekend after being spurred on by a hopefully winning concoction of confidence and frustration. The Tigers host basement battlers Portsmouth at the MKM Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with addressing a four-match winless streak the first priority for a team that were in high spirits this Halloween week.

An impressive performance last time out at home delivered just a solitary point against Burnley, with a draw at Derby County last Saturday a good point on the road but not the return Walter and his team had set their sights on. Having not tasted victory since a 3-1 win at QPR on October 1, City are determined to start a new month in the same fashion.

Confidence is high they can do just that, says Walter, with his team having provided enough evidence in recent weeks to back up the German's aspirational claims of how good they can be. That confidence gained from recent displays against good opposition is tinged with a frustration at wasted opportunities and the lack of a victory to celebrate.

"I think the boys are very confident because they know they can beat anyone," explained Walter. "We are still frustrated from the weekend and that is a good sign to know they are not happy at drawing a game. Its a long way to reach our aims, we are very ambitious and we'll try show that on Saturday again."

City go into the game with no fresh injury concerns and all the players involved in the squad against Derby having trained this week ahead of a home game with Portsmouth. While full of confidence ahead of a meeting with a Pompey team who have just one win to their name so far this Championship campaign, Walter is keen to make sure that confidence does not come across as arrogance.

He added; "We expect a tough game and we never underestimate a team, my players know from our analysis which is very clear."
