Tim Walter says he will not make any excuses for Hull City's run of poor form which has seen his side slip to the cusp of the Championship's relegation zone.

Sunday's 2-1 defeat at home to West Brom means City are now without a win in seven games and outside the bottom three on goal difference following a fourth defeat in that run.

Walter was unable to call upon Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi, two of his prime summer signings after the duo suffered season-ending ACL knee injuries, while Abu Kamara was also missing through injury, along with loan goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, Marvin Mehlem and Steven Alzate. Oscar Zambrano continues to miss games owing to the terms of his ban.

Despite the raft of key players unavailable to Walter, he felt his side was worthy of something to show for their efforts against the Baggies, who won the game inside the opening 20 minutes courtesy of goals from Karlan Grant and Josh Maja. Joao Pedro's fine angled header before the break proved to be nothing more than a consolation for City, who have now failed to keep a clean sheet in all but one of their 15 league matches.

"We are never looking for excuses," City's head coach told Hull Live. "We're looking more for solutions, and that's what we're trying to do. The boys showed that they had the solutions. We are a bit unlucky not just about the result but also about our injuries, but it is like it is. We have to accept it, we have to fight and work hard."

Belloumi's tragic news comes on the back of Millar suffering the same injury a couple of weeks earlier, with the flying Algerian winger limping out in the second half at Oxford United on Tuesday, though there is no news yet on when he'll go under the knife.

"Everybody knows we bought Mo because he's a brilliant player, and he proved it before, so we don't have to talk about the quality," he continued. "It's more about Mo's health, and it's even worse because he's such a good boy. I'm so sad for him that he can't play for a long time and also for Liam (Millar).

"We have lost two of our best players. Not everybody (other teams) can do it like that, but we have tried to push the other ones because we are young. We do not have that experience, but all we can do is keep going. They showed character, a lot of courage and a lot of bravery.

"We're never searching for excuses because we are looking forward, that's all. Somebody else will accept it to have an excuse but we don't, we are trying to push them forward."
