Hull FC's MKM Stadium considered for Ashes series venue among marquee venue lineup
Everton's new stadium, currently under construction, is being considered as a potential venue for England's rugby league match against Australia next year. The Australian world champion team will be touring the UK for the first time in over two decades next Autumn, having last won the delayed Rugby League World Cup in 2022 on English soil.
They are set to face England, who reached the semi-finals at home, in a three-test series. One game will take place in London, with two more in the north - one each on either side of the Pennines.
Despite historical ties with venues like Old Trafford, Everton's impressive yet-to-be-opened stadium on the River Mersey at Bramley-Moore Dock is on the shortlist. The Toffees' new home, set to replace Goodison Park, is due to be completed by the end of the year, with the club planning to move in next season.

Officials hope to profit from what would be the first Ashes Tour in over 20 years, according to the Daily Mail. The Merseyside stadium will have a capacity of 52,888 and there is optimism that hosting an Ashes test would attract fans.
In Yorkshire, it appears to be a contest between Leeds and Hull, both cities with strong rugby league followings. In the capital, Wembley is among several grounds being considered.
Manchester City's Etihad Stadium has also been considered but is seen as a long shot. Venues in Bolton and Wigan are also contenders, albeit with smaller capacities.
The London-based venue, a regular host of the Challenge Cup, boasts a rich history in the sport. Tottenham's cutting-edge stadium is another potential location, although it's considered to be on the expensive side.
Since 1972, Australia has only missed out on winning the World Cup once, with New Zealand being the team to beat them. The last time the tournament was held, the Kangaroos triumphed over their Kiwi counterparts in the semi-finals, with the match taking place in Leeds.
England reached the semi-finals in the previous tournament, where they were defeated by Samoa at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. Several of England's top players are currently playing in the NRL Down Under and have become key figures, including Herbie Farnworth, who recently shone in a two-test series against Samoa.
