Ibrahima Konate injury latest as Arne Slot offers update on Liverpool defender
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has offered an update on the injury sustained by defender Ibrahima Konate on the cusp of half-time during his side's 2-1 win over Brighton that saw the Reds move to the top of the Premier League table.
Konate went down after challenging for a corner kick near the end of a frustrating first half for Liverpool. The medical team helped him off the field at the interval with his shirt seemingly being used as a makeshift sling.
"He was in a lot of pain at half-time," Slot said during his post-match press conference. "Disappointed he had to go off. The good thing is I have two very good options in Quansah and Gomez.

"Quansah was tired at the end of Brighton, so I felt I had to bring in someone fitter than Jarell was. Konate? I don't know yet; [he's] not been to hospital yet. He may not even have to go; it's always too early to say just after the game."
Liverpool turned the match around in the second half. Joe Gomez came on for Konate and excelled, while fellow substitutes Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz also made a decisive impact in the final third.
Cody Gakpo got the leveler before Mohamed Salah found the back of the net after a sweeping move. And the three points meant Liverpool moved back to the top of the table again.
Earlier in the day, Arsenal lost 1-0 to Newcastle United because of an Alexander Isak goal. At the same time as Liverpool won by two goals to one, Manchester City lost by the same scoreline at Bournemouth with Josko Gvardiol pulling one back late on.
Slot's side faces Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League midweek before Aston Villa comes to Anfield in the Premier League in a week. The November international break follows those two fixtures.
