IMG's 2024 rugby league grading table has been unveiled, with Wakefield Trinity's return to Super League confirmed. The West Yorkshire club has attained Grade A status, ensuring they are considered among the sport's elite clubs under the system, which scores clubs based on a number of pillars both on and off the field.

Wakefield are one of three clubs to achieve Grade A status for the first time, with Leigh Leopards and Castleford Tigers also rising above the 15-point threshold required to achieve the highest grade possible. One club, Hull FC, has lost that status and are now Grade B.

Toulouse Olympique have narrowly missed out on promotion to Super League, having scored just 0.39 points less than Salford Red Devils, who have dropped from eighth in the indicative rankings to twelfth, despite a marginal increase to their overall score.

St Helens have been declared as the number one club under the scoring criteria, having risen from third to first, ahead of Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos, who have lost top spot. Leeds have seen their score drop from 17.49 to 16.84 out of a possible 20. Within Super League, Leigh are the biggest risers, moving from twelfth to seventh.

The club that has made way for Wakefield are London Broncos, which was widely expected. However, they have risen ten places from 24th to 14th after a major increase to their score. In the initial gradings they scored 8.07 but are now at 12.65, which has seen them move above the likes of York Knights and Bradford Bulls.

Bradford were expected to cut the gap between themselves and those occupying Super League positions and while they have posted a marginal increase to their score, it has only gone up 0.13. In last year's gradings, the gap between Bradford and the top twelve was 0.43 but it now stands at 1.82. They have dropped from 14th to 16th, below London and York.

The other big risers are Keighley, who have been vocally opposed to grading since its introduction. Despite that, no club has moved up the grading table more than them, going from 30th to 19th.

Two clubs, Batley Bulldogs and Whitehaven, are unclassified as their data was incomplete.
