Amad believes Manchester United practising their pressing in training contributed to his excellent second goal against PAOK on Thursday night.

Before facing PAOK, United had played FC Twente, FC Porto and Fenerbahce in the Europa League league phase and had drawn all three games, meaning a victory was needed.

The first half was low on quality, but Amad was a bright spark and opened the scoring just minutes into the second half when finding the back of the net with a superb header.

Amad scored again in the 77th minute, winning the ball in PAOK's half before scoring from the edge of the box, and was named man of the match for his brilliant performance.

The 22-year-old has lost his starting place in the team in recent weeks and took advantage of the opportunity to start against PAOK by netting a brace. He couldn't wipe the smile from his face when he spoke to TNT Sports and said: "It feels nice, it's been a long time since we won in Europe.

"It was important to win today. It's important to score and this season I've been unlucky not to score, but I'm happy to score twice today and the most important thing is the victory.

"When I score, I like to celebrate with the fans and make people enjoy, so I was happy. I think it's the work we did in training, we have to press the opponent, and I did my job.

"I pressed him, I took the ball and I shot and scored. Since he [Ruud van Nistelrooy] has arrived at United, he's been important for everyone. He's very close with the players and tries to help us."

Amad started the opening five games of the Premier League campaign but former United manager Erik ten Hag reduced his involvement during the last weeks of his tenure.

The winger has one goal (against Brighton) and one assist (against Southampton) in the league.
