Inverness face Championship relegation play-off as Queen's Park clinch survival

Inverness will face a fight to stay in the Championship with an upcoming play-off despite final day victory over ten-man Morton.

Duncan Ferguson's side went into this evening's match one point behind Queen's Park so knew they had to hope for Callum Davidson's men to slip up and to go for a result themselves. They did their own bit with Morgan Boyes, Cameron Harper and Sean McAllister scoring against a Ton side who had Robbie Muirhead sent off.

But the Spiders managed to stay in the division with a win of their own, beating promotion play-off bound Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden. PFA Team Of The Year nominee Ruari Paton and Liam McLeish were the goal heroes and Davidson can now look to next season.

Ferguson was adamant before the game he'd be sticking around for the League One campaign if the worst did happen.

He said: "I’ll be here. As far as I know - that’ll be down to other people to decide that. But as far as I’m concerned I’ve got a three-year contract - I’ll be here for three years.

"We are a big club. We have a lot of great fans, great people running the club. We’ve got to do everything we possibly can to stay in the division and hopefully that will happen on Friday night."
