Ryde C and Ryde Rankers are tied for the top spot in the Isle of Wight Table Tennis League.

Both teams have accumulated 41 points each, although the Rankers have a game in hand.

At this point in the season, the title seems likely to be contested between these two.

Ryde C achieved a comfortable victory over Newport Vics B, winning all their games.

Meanwhile, Ryde Rankers were part of the week’s most exciting match against Ryde Goshawks.

The Goshawks’ Steve Mills was unbeaten, while Martin Johnstone narrowly lost all three of his games, two of which went to five sets.

Despite this, the Rankers’ Hugh Idle, Graham Evans, and Lewis Johnstone claimed the match with a 6-4 win.

In another encounter, Ryde B faced Newport Vics A, with Ryde's Alex Rorke remaining unbeaten and named player of the match.

Rorke teamed with Tim Giles, who recently returned from a successful tournament in Norwich, to win the doubles and secure a 7-3 match win.

In Division Two, Ryde Revellers and Ryde Rising Stars ended their match in a draw.

Spike Hughes of the Revellers was unbeaten, although the Rising Stars’ cadet Jye Lock gave him a tough time, taking him to five sets.

Lock also achieved an excellent win against the Revellers’ Gourav Shah.

Ryde Rockets’ Trevor Percival was unbeaten in their match against Ryde Quintet, with the Rockets winning 6-4.

In a Newport derby, Vics D, bottom of the table, fought valiantly against the higher-ranked Vics C.

Debbie Yates of the D team won two games, while teammates Chris Gordine and Richard Jackson claimed one each.

The match rested on the doubles, with Vics C's Mike Jose and Dave Newnham clinching the match 6-4.

In Division Three, newcomers Wroxall Warriors are quickly establishing themselves as a formidable team, currently in second place behind St Lawrence Lizards.

The Warriors achieved an 8-2 victory against Shorwell Saints.

With a game in hand, the Division Three title is within reach for any of these three teams.
