Liverpool fans might have been putting it off for as long as possible, but the Jürgen Klopp farewell is nearly here. On Sunday, the German manager will take charge of his final game.

In terms of the Premier League title, the attention will be elsewhere. Manchester City is expected to hold off the Arsenal challenge and Pep Guardiola will have done it again. The top four is already wrapped up, though, and Liverpool can relax and celebrate one of the very best managers in its history.

With nearly 500 games under his belt and the league title and Champions League too, there will be plenty of reason to savor the occasion even if the Premier League isn't on the line for the Reds at this stage. It is set to be an emotional afternoon.

But will Klopp get a statue outside Anfield? That is perhaps a question for another day, though Steven Gerrard has called for it this week and few would argue against it. The German leaves an indelible mark on the club.

"A statue for me? Of course, I don’t need it," Klopp said during one his many sit-down interviews this week (via the Liverpool ECHO). "Do I need a key of the city? I am German, we don’t do that.

"When I was sitting there getting the freedom of the city, I had no clue what to expect and people come in with their fancy hats and the chains. It was one of the best experiences I ever had in my life and I didn’t expect that.

"When they did the speeches I had to get next to myself to think ‘they cannot be talking about you, it’s not possible’ and it was really great. The people do what they want to do. Do I think I need a statue? Definitely not. I am not sure what Bill Shankly or all the other former managers thought. They have another 40 years to think about a statue for me."

Liverpool.com says: A statue would be a fitting permanent reminder of what Klopp did. He is right up there with Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly and he is this generation's version of that pair. With just one or two changes, he could have won even more than he did but don't let anyone tell you that he underachieved.
