James Tavernier ignores Rangers transfer exit links and pledges Ibrox future

James Tavernier has appeared to pour cold water on suggestions he's likely to leave Rangers this summer.

The club captain has been linked with a move to Saudi to join Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq as his former boss looks to bring in experienced stars he's worked with before. It would be a money-spinning switch for the 32-year-old but the right-back has seemingly already made up his mind when it comes to his future.

Manager Philippe Clement, too, has recently claimed he'd prefer the skipper to stick around and now Tavernier himself has addressed the rumours linking him with an exit.

The defender insists he's happy in Glasgow and, with two years remaining on his current deal, he plans to see that out and build for next season with the manager.

"I'm sure the manager has ideas of what he wants to do next season," the Englishman said. "I have two years left and I am fully focused on the job at hand, I give my everything every single day for this club."
