James Tavernier urges Rangers faithful to spook Tottenham by channeling power of Seville
James Tavernier reckons it was the power of Ibrox that supercharged Rangers’ run to Seville.
And the Light Blues skipper believes another electrifying atmosphere can help his side zap Spurs and deliver another Europa League shock. The Premier League big guns are on their way to Glasgow, with former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou and ex-Hoops keeper Fraser Forster among the Londoner’s travelling party.
But Tavernier insists the presence of those Parkhead icons won’t be needed to ramp up the noise for this Battle of Britain showdown. European nights under the lights are always special occasions and the fact it will be English opposition lining up against Philippe Clement in itself will be enough to ensure an ear-splitting din.

And Tavernier is confident that can help lift his side to the kind of heights they hit two-and-a-half years ago as they marched all the way to the final of this very competition. He said: “The European nights are always the best at Ibrox. I've said in the past, the crowds, the same feeling of being electric. They're always on top of you, really behind you.
“Obviously that comes down to us getting the crowd behind us. I think it will be a great atmosphere. I think everybody will be really looking forward to it. We're trying to make it as hard as possible for Tottenham.”
Asked if Postecoglou’s men could be rocked by the Ibrox faithful, he said: “I believe they can, because if you go back and run to Seville, the sound and the atmosphere, I've never experienced that.
"There were some really big nights and we get 50,000 or 50,000 fans in the stadium every single week, but those European nights were something really special. Hopefully we can create that kind of atmosphere tomorrow night.”
