Jeremy Renner Makes His Comeback in ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 3 Trailer
Jeremy Renner is back as Mike McLusky in the first trailer for the actor’s Mayor of Kingstown return.
The third season of the Taylor Sheridan Paramount+ series marks Renner’s acting comeback following his near-fatal 2023 New Year’s Day snowplow accident. Renner returned to set one year after he was critically injured after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada. He had broken 38 bones and his rib cage was rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs.

When marking being back on set after months of intense recovery, the series star had said he was nervous. “Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans,” he wrote on Instagram.
Now, the trailer, which has a voiceover from Renner, shows the star back in business when, according to the season logline, “a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war, but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”
Renner had recently opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about what he described as dying and coming back to life after the accident. “There’s a wonderful gift in that, if you can hang on that superpower of [realizing] what has real value in our lives,” he said, noting that he has been focused on Mayor of Kingstown, but also didn’t rule out a future return to the action-packed Marvel universe.
“All I can focus on is this,” he said. “Doing television is quite arduous. It’s long hours and a lot of heavy lifting. So I’m just focusing on this right now and will see how I come out at the end of it. Because my number one priority still is my recovery and strengthening and just getting better, internally and externally, every day. And it has to be, to be able to go to work and participate in life in the world again. I’m allowing my body always to dictate what I can and cannot do in my life.”
He also marveled at how far he’s come. “By the way, no one ever told me that I was gonna get better. Not one doctor, early on, said, “You’re gonna pull through, you’re gonna be able to see again, you’re gonna be able to walk again, you’re gonna be able to breathe right, you’re gonna be able to talk.’ No one gave me anything. I think they were all communicating with my family. And I feel like if they didn’t tell me, it must have been pretty bleak.”
Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach round out the cast.
Season three premieres June 2 in the U.S. and Canada, and rolls out June 3 in all other Paramount+ international markets.
