Jhon Duran hits back at criticism in feisty exchange as he's given suspension
Jhon Duran hit out after enduring World Cup qualifying frustration with Colombia.
The Aston Villa striker came on as a second half substitute as Colombia lost 1-0 to Ecuador on Tuesday. Not only was Duran unable to help inspire a fightback, he was booked and will now miss his country’s next World Cup qualifier against Brazil in March.
It was Colombia’s second defeat of the November internationals, after they lost 3-2 to Uruguay, and leaves them fourth in the World Cup qualifying table behind both Ecuador and Uruguay and leaders Argentina.

Speaking in a mixed zone after the final whistle, Duran was involved in a feisty exchange with a reporter. “The balance is the same. We work, we compete, we fight. Well, the time will come when we win. We will continue working in the clubs and each one to his own thing,” he began, before being asked by a reporter what Colombia had lacked in both matches.
“What do you think we lacked?” he responded bluntly. "And why aren't you a coach?
"From the outside you can see the spaces, there is a lot of talk, but you have to go in and play to see how things are.”
