Joe Gormley may have rolled the years back with his form so far this season but he believes talk of Solitude reunion with Liam Boyce is wide of the mark. The deadly frontmen formed a potent strike-force during a two-year spell together for Cliftonville over a decade ago.

While Gormley would go on to become the Reds all-time leading goal scorer Boyce carved out a successful career in England and Scotland. Rumours are rife that Boyce is set to call time on his four-year stay at Hearts with many suggesting a possible return to the Irish League to rekindle that much-feared partnership with Gormley.

'Joe the Goal' though has poured cold water on it as he thinks Boyce will remain in Scotland. “I haven’t spoken to Liam in a long time but I hear his family are well settled in Edinburgh”, said Gormley. “Could I see him coming back? I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to him but I don’t think he will."

Gormley sits proudly at the top of the goal scoring charts this season and is clearly enjoying his run in the team as he looks towards the future. "I feel fit, feel good and I'm playing and enjoying it which is the main thing," he said.

"I got the chance at the start of the season when the other lads left and I've kept my name in the team. I've scored 14 goals this season and I'm enjoying it. Jim (Magilton) has trusted me to lead the line and as long as I continue to lead the line, then I'll be trying my best.

"It was probably going to be my last year but the way I'm playing at the minute, I might deserve another year. I love playing under Jim and Skin (Gerard Lyttle) as the both of them are absolutely outstanding."
