Joelinton makes 'aggressive' Newcastle United promise that will definitely excite fans

Joelinton believes that Newcastle United laid down a marker to the rest of the Premier League in the 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest.

The Brazilian scored a wonderful second half goal to raise the roof in the away end and set Newcastle on their way to three important points. But he has warned that United can't afford to let their standards drop as they face two crucial games in late November against West Ham then a trip to Crystal Palace to sign off the month.

Head coach Eddie Howe and his staff tweaked things after the break and admitted it was 15 minutes of hard work with his coaching staff not liking what they saw in the first 45 minutes.

Joelinton told NUFC TV: "I think we were more aggressive without the ball. We played quick and we knew they defended really well. They let us have the ball but we were more aggressive and we did really well in the second half. That is now the standard we want to keep.

"We knew the importance of the game and knew it was a six-pointer. Consistency is now a big word for us. Consistency at home and away is now what we need and trying to find our best levels."

Newcastle have now won two, drew two and lost two on the road this season but Joelinton wants to see an improvement. Looking at the club's inconsistent habits, the Brazil international said: "We know how strong we are at home, now we need to do it more away from home. As a team we need to perform better and keep the standards we set in the second half. That is the way we want to play. That is the standard and level we have to be at."
