Jose Cordoba Rangers transfer hiccup as Levski defender 'fancies' Norwich move

Jose Cordoba is reportedly closing in on a summer switch to Rangers - but there could yet be a twist in the tale.

The Levski Sofia centre-half is believed to have agreed on preliminary terms with the Ibrox outfit after being welcomed to Ibrox by the club as a guest of honour to tempt him to make the move to Glasgow earlier this season. Philippe Clement and his recruitment chief Nils Koppen hope to bolster the backline and see the 22-year-old as a good fit.

Now, though, reports have emerged from Bulgaria that the Panama international would prefer a move to the EFL Championship over Gers.

That comes as both clubs have seemingly tabled offers to Levski for consideration and then it would come down to the player's decision.

Cordoba is a certainty to be sold by Levski this summer as they look to free up funds while Gers could be preparing for life without Connor Goldson who is being considered by Al-Ettifaq and Steven Gerrard for a Saudi exit. Ben Davies could also still leave the club should teams in England be able to put together a reasonable financial package for the defender.
