Jota quizzed on Celtic transfer return as fans meet hero on Lisbon Lions pilgrimage

Jota's future remains up in the air as he continues to fight for his place at Al-Ittihad.

The winger is, however, constantly linked with what would be a sensational return to Celtic after his £25million move to Saudi last year. The Portuguese playmaker, 25, has had a tough time in the SPL after making the switch and was dropped from their squad last season to make way for other foreign options.

And that has always left Hoops supporters praying their club might look to offer him a route back to Scotland and the first-team under Brendan Rodgers with the Scottish champions.

It's clear Jota has a lot of love for his former club and one set of fans could hardly believe their luck when the wideman showed up as they took in the pilgrimage of the Lisbon Lions' 1967 European Cup victory at the famous Estadio Nacional in Portugal.

One fan - Kouassi's Mohican on X - shared snaps of his party posing up with the player after they "lost their s***".

And he explained how he quizzed the Celts hero on a potential return to Glasgow, which he claims was not ruled out.

Posting pictures online, they were captioned: "Just went to visit estadio nacional and randomly bumped into jota - what a trip," with a clover emoji.

One fan asked if the question was put to Jota, to which he replied: "Of course (I asked the question) - he said I’m not sure, but I love you guys - which isn’t a no".
