Just ONE fan allowed in Napoli away end to watch Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour – and he's from Scotland
Security reasons bizarrely meant only one fan was allowed in the away end at Napoli over the weekend. As it happens, his name his Steven, and he's from Scotland.
Atalanta pulled the rug out from under Antonio Conte's flying team on Sunday, Ademola Lookman running the show with a double in a 3-0 win. It opened the title race right up, allowing Inter to move within a point of the leaders while Atalanta themselves go third, two points further back. Sadly there wasn't much of an away support at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to celebrate it. For 'security reasons', Napoli issued a blanket ban on all fans with a Lombardy postcode, which all-but eradicated the usual travelling numbers Atalanta would have taken.
But was that stopping our Steven from Edinburgh, however? Hardly. The Atalanta-daft Hibs fan, seemingly the only travelling punter with a non-banned postcode, made the trip anyway and a clip of him all by his lonesome in the away end went viral on X.
Watching his team shoot down his countrymen Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour was quite the experience and Steven himself shared some snaps with the stewards. Evidently he wasn't much hassle for them as he wrote: "Napoli stewards were amazing with me. Grazie. Easiest shift they've ever had! What a game that was."
