Jimmy Thelin singled out Kevin Nisbet and claimed his super sub appearance against Dundee was his best in an Aberdeen jersey.

The Scotland striker had missed recent weeks with a leg injury but came back in against Dundee and set-up Vicente Besuijen and scored himself in Saturday night’s 4-1 win. Thelin and his medical team will use the international break to top up Nisbet’s fitness ahead of their trip to St Mirren at the end of the month.

The Aberdeen manager admitted: “I think it was his best performance. “Now it was not a long time but look how he performed with his intensity, his awareness, his work rate and responsibility. “I think for me, it was the best performance he's made so far with us this season, so it was good to see that. “Also when he had this setback with the injury, we had tried to get him in earlier, but it was the right decision to (wait and) make him totally fresh. “It's good work from the medical team also, so it's nice to see today.”

Aberdeen head into the international break at the top end of the table but Thelin admitted the win was the most important thing. The Dons return to a heavy run of three away games away to St Mirren, Hibs and Hearts before they entertain Celtic at the start of December.

Thelin stated: “No, I think more about the game. “That we made good feelings, not about the table, but about the game because we won at home. “The players who don't go on national teams, they can recover a bit momentally. “It's good for everyone and now we can refocus and reload for a quite intense period of the season. “There are a lot of games, so it was good to get this feeling today.”
