Icons of rugby's two codes will be at the same place at the same time next month to show their support for the MND community. Kevin Sinfield CBE and Jonny Wilkinson CBE will both be at AMT Headingley next month for a groundbreaking match that will bring both codes together.

The duo have thrown support behind the 745 Game, a hybrid between the two codes that will see high-profile stars from the sports go head to head. The likes of Danny Cipriani and Adrian Morley are already confirmed participants.

Sinfield, an icon at Headingley after captaining the side through their greatest ever period, has played an instrumental role in fundraising for the MND community since Rob Burrow was diagnosed. Meanwhile, Wilkinson was the star player for England's rugby union side when they won the World Cup in 2003. Both will show support to former rugby union played Ed Slater, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2022, and in memory of Burrow, who passed away earlier this year.

“I think the concept for the game is absolutely brilliant and its lovely that everyone has pulled together to make sure Rob’s last project is realised," Sinfield said. "Unfortunately, because I set off on our next fundraising challenge on 1st December, I can’t be involved on the pitch but I will be there and am looking forward to chatting to guests before the game especially about the great work that Ed Slater is doing and sharing memories of Rob and Doddie.

"I think it speaks volumes about how special all three are that so many players, including myself and Jonny, are ready to do whatever it takes to support this game.”
