Khadija Shaw set a new record with her sixth Women’s Super League hat-trick, helping Manchester City secure a 4-0 victory over Tottenham and a four-point lead at the top of the table. The match kicked off with Shaw capitalising on a first-minute error by defender Clare Hunt to put City in the lead, and she added another goal just 14 minutes later with a header from Lauren Hemp’s cross.

Despite Hemp's 57th-minute shot hitting the left post, the bar and then the right post, Jill Roord managed to score past goalkeeper Becky Spencer, and Shaw completed her hat-trick from Hemp’s 67th-minute cross.

Meanwhile, Arsenal dealt a blow to Brighton’s strong start to the season with a 5-0 thrashing at the Emirates Stadium.

The scoring started with Beth Mead just 13 minutes into the game, followed by Caitlin Foord doubling their lead nine minutes later off Kim Little’s cross. Frida Maanum added a third with a stunning curler into the top corner 25 minutes in, but the fourth goal didn't come until 14 minutes from time when substitute Lina Hurtig headed home from close range.

Alessia Russo rounded off the scoring from the penalty spot in stoppage time.
