Kieran Tierney makes shock Arsenal comeback as ex Celtic star handed lifeline
Kieran Tierney could make a shock injury comeback for Arsenal in tonight's Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon.
The ex-Celtic defender has been out of action since suffering a nightmare hamstring injury for Scotland during the Euros in Germany. It's been a long road to recovery for the 27-year-old, who was expected to leave the Emirates after spending last season on loan with La Liga high-flyers Real Sociedad.
But the left-back has stepped up his comeback in recent weeks by returning to the grass and resuming full first-team training. Now, KT could make his first appearance for the Gunners in more than a year after joining Mikel Arteta's squad on the flight to Portugal on Monday.

Tierney was filmed fist-pumping Arsenal's media man as he made his way on the plane last night. The £25million star - who left Parkhead in 2019 - hasn't featured for the Premier League giants since the Community Shield in 2023. But as Arsenal continue to toil for results this season, Tierney could be handed a lifeline by Arteta as he attempts to resurrect his career with the North London club.
Boss Arteta confirmed that the defender is contention to be involved at the Estádio José Alvalade. He said: "Everybody in the squad is fully fit and available to start the game. We have Kieran Tierney after a long injury, it’s great news that he’s back, he’s been training with the team and he’s at the level to participate."
