Doug King, the owner of Coventry City, has been discussing the shock dismissal of Mark Robins as manager.

The businessman hosted a fans’ forum to address Robins’ exit last week after a poor start to the current season, options for replacing him, the reason for opting for a head coach model instead of appointing another manager - and the background for the falling out between Robins and his one-time assistant Adi Viveash.

Plenty of it was fascinating stuff - and credit to King for fronting up to supporters in such a situation when club owners often keep a low profile after swinging the axe, save for the customary statement issued on club websites.

Naturally, plenty of fans are still digesting plenty of what emerged from the meeting, but some have taken the opportunity to have their say too on the issue.

Here is what some of them have been saying in the comments section of our transcript of the forum…

Baskers: I will be forever grateful to Robins for pretty much savings CCFC, but we have not been the same team since the FA Cup semi-final, which seems to be the point at which the MR and AV working relationship broke down. I do believe that DK tried to keep them together - he knew that's what the fans would want - and although he backed MR, he obviously told him be it on your head, which has proved to be.

Wier: Best to get behind whoever is the new manager and team. Still time left for a successful season, especially if a decent midfielder is secured next transfer window. Forget rumours and tittle tattle and support the squad of players available.

Theabbott: So does that mean we can get Adi back as our manager? If he was, that’d be great.

Pusbm1989: Fair enough, he [Doug King] fronted up and spoke. I don't buy a lot of it. It is all contradictory and makes no sense. This forum was planned as an opportunity to paint Robins as the problem. I have no reason to doubt that MR and AV did fall out and that's in some part true as to why AV left. The rest of it though? Backing the manager so strongly but failing to appoint an assistant for him? Funny how all of a sudden that's not the structure DK wants any more. Only time will tell if this works out, and trust me I hope it does.

Ccfctilhenger: Good enough for me, Doug. To the Robins fan club, can we move on now please? The manager made mistakes and I'm satisfied with this explanation. We all know that Adi did the real work on players and that's why we need a head coach rather than a manager, something that has been missing since the start of the season.

Ug360: Why are people now jumping in saying that our success was all Viveash and that Robins didn't have a clue? They were both part of our successes. Which means Robins was a good manager. Unfortunately things happened behind the scenes that we will never know about, and Robins wasn't able to replicate success without Adi. But it doesn't suddenly make him a bad manager. And those who were outraged by the sacking, those feelings are still valid, despite what Doug said.14 games is not enough time.

Robm16: Everything has been said. This is football and it happens. It’s not the management I support. it is Coventry City FC. Managers come and go, lets just get on with it.

Dorset Sky Blue: What an interesting back story, but we will never know what really went on behind closed doors. Let’s now pull together.
