I know what the Liverpool dressing room will be thinking after Man City loss
Glen Johnson says no-one at Liverpool will be getting carried away by last weekend's Premier League results, but thinks Arne Slot's squad will now believe they have a real chance to launch a sustained push for the title.
Arsenal's 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United was followed up by Manchester City's 2-1 loss at Bournemouth and with Slot's team beating Brighton at home at the same time on Saturday, the Reds now stand two points clear at the top of the pile ahead of this weekend's fixtures.
The league leaders host Aston Villa on Saturday night, which kicks off at 8pm, after City have been entertained at Brighton, while Mikel Arteta's men travel to an improving Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson, who spent six years with the Reds between 2009 and 2015, thinks belief will be growing at Anfield but rejects the idea that the squad will be getting too far ahead of themselves after just 10 games played so far.
"The manner in which Liverpool clawed the game back and won [against Brighton], then when you look over your shoulder and see the other two giants lose, it's even more satisfying," Johnson told 10bet.
"So that'll probably feel like a six-pointer. In terms of the confidence, Liverpool know that Man City are beatable and that Arsenal are beatable. Liverpool are the most consistent team at the moment and hence why they're top.
"I think that this [last] weekend was huge in the swing. No one would be in the changing room thinking: 'Blimey! I wouldn't expect them to lose, now we're going to win the title.’
Johnson added: "Liverpool won’t be getting carried away. They will set their targets at the start of the season, they'll want to win everything, but they will be thinking that the minimum is top four, and fight for the title.
"The players won’t be jumping around the dressing room this morning thinking they're going to win the league, but deep down they will know they've got a chance."
