Belgian international Koen Casteels is reportedly among the list of goalkeepers Celtic are considering this summer.

The Hoops are in the market for a new No1 as fans' favourite Joe Hart prepares to hang up his gloves after this week's Old Firm Scottish Cup Final. Brendan Rodgers has made it a priority to find a new shotstopper in time for the start of pre-season and free agent has emerged as an option, according to the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old brought down the curtain on his nine years at Wolfsburg on Saturday as he made his final appearance for the German giants in a 3-1 home defeat to Mainz. Casteels was given an emotional send-off by fans after making almost 300 appearances between the sticks for the Bundesliga side.

It's believed Casteels has held initial talks with Anderlecht over a return to his homeland but the Belgian outfit suffered a devastating blow by losing to Club Brugge at the weekend which effectively ended their title chances and crucially, blew their hopes of securing automatic Champions League qualification.

Of course, that's a carrot that Celtic can dangle as they seek to bring in quality reinforcements this summer and former TSG Hoffenheim star Casteels has the experience and leadership qualities Rodgers is looking for to replace the influential Hart.

Speaking recently about his future, Casteels said: "I don't have a new club yet. We've already held initial talks but it's not 100 per cent certain which club I'll be playing for next season."
