Kudus, Alvarez, Todibo - Arsenal's potential Edu replacement Tim Steidten's 17 West Ham signings
Tim Steiden, reportedly, could be one of the candidates to replace Edu Gaspar as Arsenal 's sporting director.
West Ham United are said to fear that the Gunners may consider their technical director as a candidate, The Telegraph reports after Arsenal confirmed Edu's resignation last week. He had previously been a technical director when re-joining the club he played for in 2019 before receiving a promotion to sporting director three years later.
Steiden previously held similar positions at Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen. He left the former in March last year before joining West Ham that summer. There, he is responsible for the club's overarching player recruitment strategy and scouting department, working closely with sporting director Mark Noble.

After arriving before the start of last season, the Irons sold Declan Rice to Arsenal in a £105million deal while also recouping another £30million combined from moving on Gianluca Scamacca and Nikola Vlasic. They reinvested that into their squad, committing the best part of £80million to sign Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.
James Ward Prowse also arrived in a £30million move from Southampton, while former Gunners defender Konstantinos Mavropanos returned to the Premier League from Stuttgart for around £20million. Andy Irving also signed from Austria Klagenfurt for approaching £2 million before re-joining the club on loan, while Flynn Downes moved temporarily to Southampton.
Then, this January, they paid Manchester City a significant loan fee for Kalvin Phillips while covering all his wages. However, the club recouped around £10million for selling Conor Coventry and Pablo Fornals to Charlton Athletic and Real Betis while also loaning out Said Benrahma and Thilo Kehrer to Lyon and Monaco, respectively.
Both those loans became permanent this summer, as did Downes' move to Southampton, generating around a combined £35million. Nathan Trott also left for approaching £2million while Ben Johnson and Angelo Ogbonna notably left at the end of their contracts. Another youngster, Brad Dolaghan, signed from Worthing, and former Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Fodderingham joined as a free agent.
As for incomings, Luis Guilherme was the first from Palmeiras for £25million before spending £40million on signing Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Maximilian Kilman . The best part of £60million then went toward recruiting Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug from Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.
The former Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez also arrived on a free transfer, while West Ham spent £15 million on Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United. Teenage midfielder Mohamadou Kante also came in for around £1million from Paris FC, ultimately re-joining the same club for the rest of this season.
Carlos Soler moved in the same direction on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in a similar deal to the one that saw Jean-Clair Todibo arrive from Nice. Nayef Aguerd, Maxwel Cornet, Ward-Prowse and Kurt Zouma also moved temporarily late in the window to Real Sociedad, Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah.
