Things got heated for Kyle Lafferty and Niall McGinn when they took on a challenge with a difference on the Open Goal podcast.

The former Northern Ireland teammates were recently star guests on the show and faced a series of questions during a quick-fire quiz round. And if they got a question wrong, they had to eat some spicy chicken wings.

The spice factor ramped up with each round of questions, but the pair were allowed to 'phone a friend' if they were struggling to answer any of the teasers.

Lafferty was stumped on the question 'Who invented the telephone?'.

So the obvious choice for his 'phone a friend' was Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.

Lafferty joked that he picked O'Neill because he is the "most famous person in my phone book", to which the former Stoke City boss replied: "That means you've already tried about 10 people".

O'Neill also comically shot down Lafferty's adulation by saying: "If I had known it was you calling I wouldn't have picked up the phone".

After the introductions, O'Neill correctly answered that it was Alexander Bell who invented the telephone.

The hosts then jokingly asked O'Neill for his views on McGinn, who was sitting in earshot.

O'Neill joked: "Wonderful lad, top player. What else can I say? Still one of Scotland's most eligible bachelors".

Lafferty and McGinn took on four rounds of spicy wings, starting off with Buffalo and ending with Da Bomb.

The episode sees the former Rangers and Celtic stars talk about their careers and share some brilliant stories on former teammates and managers.
