Lady Jumpers fall in slugfest against Casey County
Apr. 18—The Lady Jumpers were hoping to avoid a 1-3 start to district play on Tuesday as they traveled to Casey County to take on the Lady Rebels. Both teams bats seemingly were on fire and despite falling behind 5-1 after the first two innings, Somerset nearly made the comeback but fell to Casey 16-15 in a game that featured eight home runs between the two teams. Casey freshman Harmony Meece had a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game for the Lady Rebels.
Jazlynn Shadoan had a massive performance with nine RBI's, a double and two grand slams on a 4-5 night from the plate. Sarah White added three RBI's and two home runs herself. Emry Pyles and Mollie Lucas each had one RBI in the loss. Baley Gretzner hit a triple during the contest. Kylee Wilson and White each had a stolen base. Madisyn Robertson earned the loss on the mound, allowing 16 runs on 11 hits with eight walks and two strikeouts. Casey County had four different batters hit a home run, with Meece earning the walk-off.
Somerset falls to 8-10 and will be back on the road on Friday as they will take on Russell County.
