League One’s most in-form player tipped for Birmingham City rejects 'club record offer'
Kwame Poku’s electric form for Peterborough United is likely to spark a scramble for his signature next summer – and Posh transfer chief Barry Fry has tipped Birmingham City to make a move for the winger.
The Ghanaian right flanker has scored 10 goals in League One, including a hat-trick against Cambridge United last time out, and provided five assists for his teammates. No player has more goal contributions in League One than Poku.
No player has a higher rating with WhoScored either. Poku has an average rating of 7.57 across his 15 League One outings this season.

Ex-Blues manager Fry, who is Peterborough United’s director of football, believes Craig Gardner will come calling for Poku in the near future. Speaking on the Keep Right On Podcast before Blues played Posh in September, Fry suggested Gardner is keen on one of his players and he later identified Poku.

Poku has turned down the offer of a new contract at Posh and his deal expires next summer. Clubs will have to pay compensation for Poku who won’t turn 24 until next August.
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that he rejected a £3million bid, plus £3m in add ons, for Poku in the summer and expects to bag a hefty fee if a tribunal is needed.
"There are many things a tribunal takes into account when setting a transfer fee,” MacAnthony said on his 'Hard Truth' podcast. “The offers we have already had are part of that as are his appearances, his goals, the contract offer we have made him and what we have paid out in transfer fees ourselves so we will still get millions and millions for him.
"We did make him a club record offer, but he knows it’s time for him to go to the next level. We hope he wins promotion with us first.
"Kwame probably won’t go to the Premier League straight away, but he will get a high-end Championship club. He will be a Premier League star in the future and that next move will probably cost £30million."
Should Blues win promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt, they will be in a strong position to act on their interest in Poku.
