Defender Max Wober admits he must "remain patient" as he looks to force his way into Daniel Farke's Leeds United starting XI. The 26-year-old has started just once since returning to Elland Road following his productive Borussia Mönchengladbach loan spell.

Wober featured in their heavy Carabao Cup loss to Middlesbrough back in August. He has battled numerous fitness issues since the start of the season, with his latest problem being a knee injury.

But Wober recently returned to the squad following a spell on the sidelines. However, he has failed to dislodge the centre-half pairing of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk. Wales international Rodon and Struijk have formed a strong partnership, helping the Whites chalk up nine Championship clean sheets this season.

Despite his lack of game time at Elland Road, Wober was selected in the recent Austria squad by national team by Ralf Rangnick. Austria face Kazakhstan and Slovenia in the Nations League this week.

Speaking to Austrian newspaper Kurier, via Sport Witness, Wober said: “Things are going well in Leeds, I understand from the coach that there is no reason to change anything. I have to remain patient.”

When asked directly if he needs to oust Struijk from the left centre-back role, Wober replied: “That would be the goal.” Wober is one of a number of Whites players currently away on international duty.

Next up for the Whites after the enforced two-week break is a trip to mid-table Swansea City.
