New boy Josuha Guilavogui has already started preparing for life after football. The 34-year-old, who joined Leeds United on a free transfer last week, has started his coaching badges.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Guilavogui said: “There may be agents, sports directors, truth is the green rectangle, that’s where I feel most at home comfortable. So why not start coaching young people or join a professional staff and also take care of the young people in the reserve who become professionals, to work a little more specifically after the sessions.

“But I am in the process of passing my CTP with UEFA, and there are quite a few doors that are open.”

Fresh from penning a deal with the Whites until the end of the season, Guilavogui was named on the substitutes bench in Saturday's goalless draw at Bristol City. The former France international has played only six minutes of football since the end of March, making just 12 appearances for Mainz last term.

Guilavogui provides extra cover in defence and in midfield as the Whites target the Championship title. Boss Daniel Farke is keen for Guilavogui to act as 'mentor' to their younger players.

"He has a proper CV," said Farke. "He has played over 200 times in the Bundesliga, more than 100 times in Ligue 1 and has played seven times for France in a time when they were dominating European football.

"You don't win this in the lottery, you have to be a really decent player to do this. He has more than 40 games in Europe. He was excited by our prospect and the package has attracted him."

Guilavogui is set to be included in the United squad for Saturday's home clash with Plymouth Argyle.
