Leicester City told to complete 'most popular piece of business' in January transfer window

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Chelsea has not gone as he would have liked. The former Leicester City midfielder had made only three Premier League appearances since leaving the King Power – all three off the bench and none since August.

Indeed he has not made five of the last six league match-day squads, although there has been some respite in the Europa Conference League where he has made four starts and scored his first Blues goal against Gent.

Predictably that has led to speculation not only about whether Dewsbury-Hall will even be in the squad when Enzo Maresca returns to the King Power Stadium on Saturday week – but also whether he’ll even see out the season at Stamford Bridge.

It was reported earlier this week that Aston Villa are keen on taking him on a loan with a view to buy in the January transfer window, so we asked Foxes fans if they’d take the 26-year-old, home-grown midfielder back as a short-term measure to help ensure top flight status.

Here’s a selection of responses from LeicestershireLive’s website – and there’s nothing like unanimity.

lifelongloyal : I wonder if he'd come back to the KP on loan? I'm pretty sure it would be the most popular piece of business this season thus far!

thepunky1 : We won’t be interested cuz we only buy mediocre players nowadays.

director9 : We could all see this coming. Same with Drinkwater and Chillwell.... all at the benchwarmer club.

Fox101 : Why does everyone want him back? Has anyone seen him play lately? Good Championship player and even then he had some bad games. We are in the PL now and want to try to stay there without wasting a fortune in wages or loan fees. I am sure he will get game time against us in 2 weeks, along with the rest of the Chelsea reserves, and he will have a good game because he has 10 other good players around him, but not if he was playing for us. Defenders/strikers/wingbacks, yes; midfielders, no.

102842 : Absolutely!

foxes114 : He was never going to get much game time at Chelsea as he’s an average player, but he’s still better than what we’ve got

@holden_pete: It would be nice, but where do we get the money from?
