Lennon Miller will play in Champions League, he's that good, says Motherwell ace
Motherwell stopper Steve Seddon reckons Lennon Miller will hit the big time in his career and will grace the Champions League.
Seddon has previous for spotting talent, having played for Birmingham when Jude Bellingham made his senior debut at 16.
Miller has progressed so well at Fir Park that boss Stuart Kettlewell had no hesitation in handing him the captain’s armband for the Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers, and he maintained that role as the Steelmen beat St Johnstone 2-1 on Saturday, maintaining joint-fourth in the Premiership.
Seddon, 26, has no doubt that Miller will go on to achieve some great strides in his career.
He said: “As I sit here, we know Lennon loves Motherwell, he’s from around here.
“But you’ve got to respect people do have ambitions in football. Let’s be honest, Motherwell are not competing in Champions Leagues – and that’s where I think Lennon can get to.
“Lennon is that good. I’m not going to sit and name-drop, but I’ve played with some top, top players who have gone on to do amazing things.
“But Lennon , I believe, is of that type. He’s pretty high up, for me, and the reason why is his football intelligence, which is one of his biggest strengths.
“He’s got all the technical qualities, of course, but his brain is a football brain, and I love that.
“He’s young but, football-wise, his brain isn’t, it’s experienced. It’s about always knowing the right pass, it’s all the little touches he produces.”
Miller may have been given the armband due to injuries to Paul McGinn and Stephen O’Donnell, but Seddon sees no issue with an 18-year-old leading out the team.
Motherwell were 2-0 up and seemingly cruising at Fir Park on Saturday, with goals from Tawanda Maswanhise and Tom Sparrow.

St Johnstone were awarded a controversial penalty in the second half for an Andy Halliday hand-ball, which captain Nicky Clark dispatched, and they had a late ‘leveller’ ruled out for a Jack Sanders hand-ball.
Seddon said: “It’s not odd to us, having an 18-year-old as captain.
“There’s lots of different types of captain. There are the loud ones, the focused ones, the experienced ones.
“With Lennon it’s like he’s that good of a player and, not only that, but about how much of a nice lad he is.
“Plus he’s definitely got a bit about him, which is really good. He has a personality and character that a lot of the boys buzz off.
“He does his talking on the pitch, but this is not some quiet 18-year-old sitting in the corner of the dressing room.
“I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
Seddon and Miller were heavily involved in the opening goal, with the left wing-back’s pass forward to Marvin Kaleta releasing him to cross for Maswanhise’s soaring header, and reckons it was all about pace.
“Lennon has given me the ball where I’m basically told by his pass to step onto it.
“I look up for Marv, who can catch pigeons – he’s rapid! I actually knew I could overhit it a bit for him, and it would be all good.
“I thought we did alright. The first 20 minutes we were a bit slow getting used to the way that St Johnstone are playing, then we started to look a real threat on the break, and that’s a credit to the front boys.
“I got the feeling we were always going to get a goal when we got up the pitch.”
